Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to use UK Facts. This page says what we know does not work well yet, and how to tell us about a problem.

What we aim for

We aim for the site to work with a keyboard, a screen reader, zoom up to 400% and a phone, and to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We have not yet shown that it does, so we do not claim that it conforms.

Problems we know about

An external review in October 2026 and our own checks found these problems. We are working on them; some may already be improved on parts of the site.

  • Many interactive charts do not yet have a full text alternative or a table of their values, and some chart colours and in-bar labels have too little contrast.
  • The political map cannot yet be used fully with a keyboard or screen reader, and it has no equivalent searchable list of areas.
  • Before you make a choice, the cookie bar is a short bar at the foot of the screen (about a fifth of a small phone screen in automated tests). Opening "More detail" makes it taller, up to half the screen. We have not tested it with screen readers or on real phones.
  • Some buttons and links, including Cookie settings, are smaller than the recommended touch-target size on phones.
  • On some local pages, links inside text are shown by colour alone.
  • Some pages skip heading levels, and some long tables scroll inside a box, which can be hard to use on a phone or with a keyboard.
  • Some pages are very long, and some local page titles do not name the ward or area you are reading.

Report a problem or ask for another format

If you cannot use part of the site, or you need information in a different format, email connect@uk-statpack.co.uk. Tell us the page address and what went wrong. We will reply and tell you what we can do.

How we checked

This statement was prepared on 23 October 2026. It is based on automated checks, an external review of the site in October 2026 and reviews carried out with AI-assisted tools. We have not yet completed a full manual audit, or testing with real screen readers and phones. Those checks are still to come, and this statement will change when they are done.
