Terms of use

UK Facts is free to use. These terms explain what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you.

Who runs UK Facts

Danny Shipp and James Harris run UK Facts. UK Facts is a self-funded, not-for-profit public-information project. It is free to use, with nothing to buy. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

Information, not advice

UK Facts explains public statistics and policy in plain language. It is general information. It is not financial, legal, medical, tax or other professional advice, and it does not tell you what to do in your own situation. Check anything important with the original source or a qualified adviser.

Proposals and assessments on the site are clearly labelled as our analysis. They are not the policy of any government, party or public body.

Accuracy and corrections

We link every figure to its source and try hard to get things right, but we cannot promise the site is complete, current or free of mistakes. Official figures are revised, and our own work can be wrong. We use AI-assisted tools to develop the site and prepare material. AI output can be wrong, and automated or agent review is not independent human verification. Review dates, source records, limitations and correction histories describe the work performed; they do not imply a personal sign-off.

If you spot a mistake, please tell us. See corrections for how we handle them.

Reusing our work

You may reuse UK Facts’ own text, charts and images under CC BY 4.0 if you credit us. Data from official sources keeps its publisher’s licence. The details are on reuse and licence.

Using the site fairly

Please do not try to break, overload or get around the security of the site, and do not present our work as something it is not, for example by changing a chart and still crediting it to us without saying so.

Our social media accounts

We share our work on our own accounts: X (@UKFactsChecker), Facebook (ukfacts1), Bluesky (@ukfacts.bsky.social), Pinterest (UKfacts1). We use our own scheduling tool to publish the same post to these accounts. It posts only our own content to accounts we run. It does not collect information about people who follow, like or reply to us.

Each platform’s own terms and privacy policy also apply when you use it.

We link to official sources and other websites so you can check our work. We are not responsible for their content, and a link is not an endorsement.

Our responsibility to you

We provide the site free of charge and as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss caused by relying on it. Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit.

Changes and contact

These terms were last updated on 8 November 2026. If we change them, we will update this page and its date. How we handle personal information is set out in our privacy notice.
